Sydvaranger AS was established in 1906 as a large iron ore mining company and was in operation until 1997.

For a long time the town of Kirkenes was a typical mining town but has recently developed to become a diversified town for trade and maritime services.

Based on the close proximity to Russia, the huge oil and gas

deposits in the Barents Sea and the infrastructure and areas

available close to the sea it is an ideal base for future developement.
